Curation Policy

The editorial principles behind our coffee guides, recipes, images, and corrections.

Last updated

Our Coffee Tyme is a coffee journal for curious readers. This policy sets out the standards we aim to follow when choosing topics, explaining brewing methods, presenting recipes, and using outside material. It describes editorial intent, not a claim that every article has undergone laboratory testing, expert review, or a formal fact-checking process.

1. Why a topic belongs in the journal

We aim to choose topics that help readers understand coffee, explore brewing, discover recipes, or learn about origins and culture. Practical usefulness and a clear connection to coffee should guide inclusion. Popularity, attractive imagery, or a potential commission should not substitute for a sound explanation.

The journal is a selected collection, not an exhaustive catalog of products, countries, traditions, or techniques. Featuring a subject does not mean it is the only good option or the best choice for every reader.

2. Facts, sources, and uncertainty

Our standard is to distinguish checkable facts from preferences, estimates, and interpretation. Where a claim depends on a source, we aim to favor relevant primary material, manufacturer instructions for product details, and reliable references for history, science, and safety. Sources can themselves be incomplete or outdated, and descriptions of flavor or brewing preferences are often subjective.

Specific numerical, historical, or health-related claims deserve particular care. We aim to acknowledge important uncertainty and avoid presenting one tradition or personal preference as a universal rule. If an article does not show the basis for a claim you need to rely on, seek an authoritative source and ask us to clarify it.

3. AI-assisted writing and generated images

The journal uses AI-assisted writing and AI-generated imagery. AI can help with drafting, organization, and visual illustration, but it can also produce confident-sounding errors. Our editorial aim is to check important claims, keep the language clear, and correct problems brought to our attention. AI assistance does not remove the owner's responsibility for what is published.

Generated and stock images are illustrative unless expressly identified otherwise. They are not proof that a recipe was made, a place was visited, a person was interviewed, or a product was tested. Visual details, quantities, and appearance may differ from the actual ingredients, location, or result. Readers should follow the written instructions and appropriate safety guidance, not infer instructions from an image.

4. Recipes, comparisons, and hands-on claims

Recipe and brewing articles may combine general knowledge, research, and AI-assisted drafting. Publication alone is not a claim of hands-on recipe testing or equipment use. If we describe direct experience or testing, the article should identify its basis and relevant limitations rather than imply a larger review process.

Comparisons should explain meaningful differences and trade-offs, including when a preference depends on taste, budget, or equipment. We aim not to invent staff credentials, test results, scores, visits, or endorsements. Times, yields, strength, and appearance can vary in your kitchen.

5. Respectful context and sensible safety

Coffee traditions are diverse and can vary within a region or community. We aim to avoid stereotypes and explain context without implying that one article speaks for everyone. An adaptation of a traditional drink should not be presented as the only authentic version.

Food, caffeine, equipment, and alcohol discussions are general information, not individual health advice. Our editorial aim is to flag relevant safety limitations and avoid unsupported health promises. Readers still need to check allergens, follow safe food practices and manufacturer instructions, and comply with local drinking-age laws.

6. Commercial relationships and selection

Affiliate commissions, sponsorships, or gifts should be explained clearly where they are relevant. The presence of a commission should not determine a factual conclusion or imply hands-on experience. Commercial content should be identifiable rather than disguised as an independent personal review.

Our Affiliate Disclosure sets the standard for commission-bearing links. It does not establish that a particular relationship exists; that connection needs to be explained with the relevant article or link.

7. Images, embedded videos, and attribution

The journal uses generated imagery, images delivered through a CDN, Unsplash images, and selected YouTube embeds. Outside material should be used in a way consistent with applicable permissions and provider terms. Embedding a video does not mean its creator endorses the journal or that we have independently verified every statement in it.

We aim to provide relevant context and avoid presenting someone else's work as our own reporting. If an attribution, permission, or rights issue needs attention, contact us with the page URL and the material involved so the owner can investigate.

8. Corrections and reader feedback

Readers can report factual errors, unclear instructions, missing disclosures, safety concerns, or attribution issues through the contact form's correction topic. Include the article URL, the passage or material concerned, an explanation, and a reliable source if you have one. Share only the personal information needed for follow-up.

The owner reviews reports and may clarify, correct, update, or remove material. The editorial standard is to acknowledge substantive corrections in the article when appropriate, rather than quietly preserve a misleading claim. Not every disagreement calls for a change, and submitting a report does not guarantee a reply or a set response time.

9. Keeping the journal current

We aim to revisit content when a meaningful error, new source, or changed product detail is identified. We do not promise continuous monitoring of every link, price, video, or article. Publication dates identify when stories were published, not a guarantee that every detail remains current. This policy can also change as the journal develops; the date above identifies its latest version.
